The Detroit-based Sachse Construction company is auctioning hard hats designed by local female artists as part of a fundraising program for charities focused on women’s empowerment.
Artists Olivia Guterson, Nicole Jarecz, and India Solomon are partaking in the Hard Hats for Detroit initiative. Proceeds from Guterson’s hard hat will benefit the Empowerment Plan to provide employment and education for people experiencing homelessness. Jarecz’s hard hat will support Alternatives for Girls, which provides services to homeless and at-risk youth.
Proceeds from Solomon’s hard hat will support BasBlue, which gives mentorship and funding opportunities to underrepresented women and non-binary individuals. Current bidding for the three hard hats has surpassed $2,000 apiece, and the online auction will end on Dec. 3.
