Tao Group Hospitality has opened the Crane Club in New York City, featuring chef Melissa Rodriguez and a wood-fired grill menu with more than 1,000 international wines.
The club is in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood at 85 10th Ave. in the building that previously housed Rodriguez’s Del Posto Italian restaurant and her two-Michelin-starred Al Coro. Joining Rodriguez at the Crane Club is her business partner and restaurateur Jeff Katz.
The menu spans a selection of pastas, meats, vegetables and fish cooked over a 12-foot Mibrasa wood-fired grill that was designed by Rodriguez and built in Spain. The restaurant also features a roving raw-bar cart that displays seafood such as shrimp cocktail and razor clams on ice.
Other menu highlights include oven-baked cherrystone clams with a garlic-bread-and-butter crust; chicory salad with tempura root vegetables and black truffle vinaigrette; baked shells filled with ricotta and mascarpone and topped in black truffle jus; a Duroc pork double chop with urfa, fenugreek, seaweed and mushroom; and potato sarladaises with duck fat, smoked bacon, sherry, parsley and dandelion greens.
