Michelle Knudsen has been named chief investment officer at New York University, responsible for the university’s $5.9 billion endowment fund, the university announced Tuesday.
She will join NYU in late June. She replaces Kathleen Jacobs, who resigned Sept. 30.
Since 2019, Knudsen has been a senior portfolio manager at the New York-based Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, where she was in charge of “developing and implementing key investment and diversification strategies for the foundation’s $8 billion endowment and managing its team of investment analysts,” an NYU release said.
Knudsen “brings excellent experience to the position and impressed me and members of the investment committee with her insights, her understanding of NYU’s needs and her team management skills,” Martin Dorph, NYU's executive vice president, said in the release.
An NYU spokesman didn’t return a request for additional information.
