The Baltimore-based investment management firm Brown Advisory has hired Sargent McGowan as its new chief investment officer for endowments and foundations. He has also been named a partner in the firm.
McGowan had worked at the University of Virginia Investment Management Co. since 2013, serving as a managing director responsible for investing the school’s $14 billion endowment. He previously was a portfolio manager at Invesco, where he managed the firm’s institutional global and international equity funds.
Brown Advisory oversees $170 billion in assets for private and institutional clients and charities, including families, family offices, endowments and foundations. The firm has over 900 employees with offices in Baltimore; Austin, Texas; Boston; Nashville; Virginia; California; Delaware; Washington; London; Frankfurt, Germany; Singapore; and Tokyo.
