The chairwoman of the Indonesian Employers’ Association, Shinta Kamdani, met with Hong Kong chief executive John Lee on Wednesday to discuss a plan to help Indonesian businesses set up family offices in Hong Kong.
"We have discussed a number of opportunities concerning how Hong Kong can be utilized as a hub for family businesses in Indonesia," said Kamandi, according to the South China Morning Post. "We are exploring what Hong Kong also has to offer in order to facilitate our entry into Hong Kong and also to mainland China."
Kamdani met Lee in Hong Kong alongside about 20 business representatives from Indonesia, Radio Television Hong Kong reported. This year, Hong Kong committed to improving tax breaks to attract foreign family offices and investors.
Dubai prince Sheikh Ali Rashed Ali Saeed Al Maktoum recently reaffirmed his plans to open a $500 million family office in Hong Kong.
