Rich Paul, the sports agent for LeBron James and other star athletes, has partnered with Sotheby’s to create a collection of contemporary art that will be auctioned Sept. 27.
The live auction will take place at Sotheby’s New York, with exhibitions of the art displayed from Sept. 21 through 26. Paul’s curated collection is intended to highlight Black American artists and includes works from Sam Gilliam, Derek Fordjour, Frank Bowling and Mark Bradford, with estimated prices for the pieces ranging from $50,000 to $1.2 million.
Paul, who is engaged to the singer Adele, is on the board of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. He founded Klutch Sports Group in 2012, which represents athletes across the National Basketball Association, Women's National Basketball Association, National Football League, Major League Baseball, Major League Soccer and soccer internationally.
"Art profoundly reflects and enhances personal experiences; it's always been a gateway to self-expression for me,” Paul said in a statement. “My role as a curator is about more than just assembling a collection. It’s about fostering a deeper appreciation for art and using my platform to educate and inspire others, creating a legacy of thoughtful engagement.”
