This November, Sotheby’s will offer The Blue Lagoon, the largest top-quality Paraiba tourmaline ever to be offered at auction.
The 93.94-carat treasure is in a necklace that is estimated to fetch between $1.4 to $2.7 million when it goes to auction at Sotheby’s Maginificent Jewels sale in Geneva on November 8.
The highly-sought gemstones, with their unique electric blue hue, were first discovered in Brazil in the 1980’s, and often sell for higher prices than fine sapphires, rubies and emeralds.
