The personal locker of National Basketball Association legend Kobe Bryant is being auctioned off by Sotheby’s with an estimated market value of between $1 million and $1.5 million.
Bryant, who died in a helicopter crash in January 2020, used the Staples Center locker for the majority of his Los Angeles Lakers career. There is photographic documentation of his using the locker from the 2003-04 NBA season through the 2015-16 season, according to Sotheby’s.
The auction house said a U.S. collector who acquired the locker in a private transaction owns the item. A portion of proceeds from the sale will benefit The Los Angeles Lakers Youth Foundation.
Bryant’s locker is part of Sotheby’s Altitude Capsule Collection online auction, which is open for bidding through Aug. 2. The locker will also be publicly displayed at Sotheby’s New York galleries July 26-30.
