Sotheby's will be presenting what it is calling "the most important pairing of wristwatches ever to come to auction" on Nov. 5 in Geneva at its Sotheby's Important Watches sale.
The two masterpieces were devised by legendary watchmakers George Daniels and Roger W Smith. One is the last in the Millennium series — completed in 2001, it was Smith’s own watch and the only double-signed Daniels timepiece ever. And the other is the very first in the Co-Axial Anniversary series, completed in 2012.
"Beyond their technical merit and complications, they offer unprecedented insight into the unique relationship between the ultimate master of his craft — Daniels — and his prodigy apprentice, Roger Smith, both obsessed with the advancement of horological excellence," said Mikael Wallhagen, head of watches at Sotheby’s Geneva.
